Attention all POC who are attending Wiscon 39!
One! There is a POC Safer Space at Wiscon every year, and we want to be sure you know about it, especially if this is your first time attending the convention.
Safer Space hours and location are as follows:
Rooms 612 & 613
Friday: 1 pm–2 am
Saturday & Sunday: 8:30 am–2 am
Monday: 8:30 am–1 pm
If you’re coming to WisCon and foresee yourself coming to hang out in the POC Safer Space, bring your favourite tea(s)! We’ll have a microwave oven for heating up food and a kettle for continual teapotluck.
We’re in 612 – 613 once more, with a couple changes: one room won’t have beds anymore, and chairs instead.
If you know POC who will be going and have questions about the Safer Space, feel free to send them to Jaymee Goh, our Safer Space liaison.
She can be reached at her twitter @jhameia, via email at email@example.com or via tumblr ask
Two! There is an annual POC Dinner, held on Friday evening.
This is just a note to let everyone know that there WILL be a POC Dinner at WisCon this year. It will be on Friday, May 22nd at 5:30pm going until 7pm. It’s in the Concourse Hotel, room 629. So mark that on your calendars!
Kids are welcome at this event.
At this time we’re still getting prices from caterers. We’re hoping to keep the cost down around $15 per adult this year. The menu will take multiple dietary needs into account, including those of you who are vegetarian, vegan, dairy-free, and gluten intolerant.
However, if you want to bring your own food to the POC Dinner that is just fine. The point is for us to gather and hangout and meet people and have community time, not to make you eat certain food!
Folks on a limited food budget, we will have some comped meals this year just as we did last year.
The first full week of May we’ll put up the menu and pricing and start selling tickets. I’ll publish the link here on Tumblr and on Twitter (@tinytempest).
So check back with Tempest on twitter or her tumblr for that link and more info. But there will be a POC Dinner this year!
