“… that’s some white folks shit” (Or WFS for short) especially when it has to do with the following topics: homosexuality, eating disorders, going to college, drug addiction, mental health issues, body image issues, domestic abuse… the list could go on and on. Another post by Karnythia on LJ made me think of these things… and how I often hear that phrase in relation to anything that’s not “hood” or in relation to “keepin it real”.
How black folks will say that there were no gay black people until slavery hence its some white folks shit that has crept into our society and corrupted it somehow. Like being gay and black just isn’t possible at all whatsoever; you can’t be both and really be black.
Thats the phrase that really bothers me, and I started this post a long time ago and never got around to finishing it. Perhaps when I can actually articulate this idea without getting angry I’ll finish…
