Weekend Assignment #196: Now that the WGA strike has had lots of time to affect the prime time television schedules, how is it affecting you as a viewer? What show do you miss most, aside from reruns? Do you miss your weekly appointment with that ill-behaved doctor, or your visits to Wisteria Lane? Does it bother you not to laugh at fresh jokes on your favorite sitcom? Or are you just as happy watching reality shows, or new episodes of shows that have been held back until now? We want to know!


The only thing thats really chafing me is the loss of the new season of 24 until the strike is over. I’m a total junkie for the show and Keifer. Other shows are not so see or die for me, but I am feeling less inclined to turn on the boob tube lately. I’ve pretty much weaned myself off of any late night shows, and could give a rats arse about “reality television” anyway.

I think if I see one more promo for American Idol I may pitch my tv out the living room window, especially since there won’t be much on Fox to watch with the absence of fresh episodes of 24, Bones, House, etc to balance out the litany of reality tv dreck that seems to be breeding like rabbits with the absence of other tv shows.

Extra Credit: how are you spending the time instead?
With school starting again, and my job’s travel and conference schedule picking up steam in the new year, I won’t have much time to worry about it. I do plan to get out more in the spring if the strike isnt resolved then instead of spending my evenings in front of the tv or dvr for show’s I’ve missed.

I do plan to see more movies and read more books since I’ll have some free time. Classwork and such will take a good chunk of my time but I plan to get in some leisure reading as well.
