So the news I’ve had to sit on for a bit is that #INeedDiverseGames/Fresh Out of Tokens have been selected as one of 10 participants for the Gaming For Everyone Pavilion at #IndieCade15!!

We’ll have a booth in the Pavilion, equipment set up by Intel and signage. My podcast co-host David L. Reeves and I will be at #IndieCade15 October 23-25th at the Pavilion. Come by and say hello!

We’ll have swag of some kind, a way to sign up for blog and podcast updates from us and info on what we’re doing for #INeedDiverseGames & our future plans.

So please come by, say hello and tell us what we can do to better serve the gaming community by way of the site, social media sites, podcast and other means.

We’re excited to announce a brand-new initiative taking place at IndieCade Festival 2015 – the Gaming For Everyone Pavilion presented by Intel!

At IndieCade, we are constantly inspired by amazing people in the independent games scene who work to make gaming a better place for everyone. As a way of supporting these great efforts, we will be featuring up to 10 organizations, groups, or individuals that focus on initiatives promoting underrepresented groups and their presence in gaming and game development. This includes efforts focused on gender, race, ethnicity, orientation, age, disabilities, and much more. We salute Intel for generously supporting these initiatives while working with us to develop this Pavilion.

Tanya DePass is the founder and Director of I Need Diverse Games, a non-profit organization based in Chicago, which is dedicated to better diversification of all aspects of gaming. I Need Diverse Games serves the community by supporting marginalized developers attend the Game Developer Conference by participating in the GDC Scholarship program, helps assist attendance at other industry events, and is seeking partnership with organizations and initiatives. Tanya is a lifelong Chicagoan who loves everything about gaming, #INeedDiverseGames spawn point, and wants to make it better and more inclusive for everyone. She founded and was the EIC of Fresh Out of Tokens podcast where games culture was discussed and viewed through a lense of feminism, intersectionality and diversity. Now she’s a co-host on Spawn on Me Podcast. Along with all of that, she’s the Programming Coordinator for OrcaCon, she often speaks on issues of diversity, feminism, race, intersectionality & other topics at multiple conventions throughout the year. Her writing about games and games critique appears in Uncanny Magazine, Polygon, Wiscon Chronicles, Vice Gaming, Paste Games, Mic, and other publications.
